ACADEMIC CALENDAR 鈥 SEMESTER SYSTEM
The academic calendar is divided into three semesters: Fall, Spring, and Summer, each consisting of
fourteen weeks of instruction and one week of final exams with the exception of Summer when exams are held on the last day of instruction. The Summer Semester also includes two seven-week sessions. 帝王会所 operated on the quarter system from Fall 1967-68 through Summer 2011-12. Prior to Fall 1967-68, 帝王会所 operated on the semester system consisting of 15 weeks of instruction and one week of exams.
ACCREDITATION
The University is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission at the associate鈥檚, bachelor鈥檚, master鈥檚, and doctoral levels. The Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine has accreditation from the American Osteopathic Association鈥檚 Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation. In addition, numerous colleges, departments, schools, and programs hold individual accreditation. 帝王会所 is classified as 鈥淒octoral Universities: Very High Research Activity鈥 by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
CREDIT
Course credit is designated in semester hours beginning Fall 2012-13. Prior to Fall 2012-13 course credit is designated in quarter hours, including hours displayed in former semester terms (prior to Fall 1967-68). One semester hour of credit is the equivalent of one recitation or two or more laboratory periods per week throughout the semester.
GRADUATION WITH HONOR
Only baccalaureate students are eligible to graduate with honor. If year of entry is 1994-95 or earlier and
graduation occurred by August 1999, prior policy applied. If year of entry is 1994-95 or earlier and
graduation occurred on or after November 1999, current policy applied. If entry term is Fall 1995-96 or later, then current policy applies regardless of graduation year:
Current Policy
Summa Cum Laude 3.900-4.000
Magna Cum Laude 3.750-3.899
Cum Laude 3.500-3.749
Prior Policy
Summa Cum Laude 3.500-4.000
Cum Laude 3.000-3.499
GRADUATION RANK
Through Winter 2010-11 (March 2011) baccalaureate graduates are ranked by their accumulative grade point averages at the end of their graduation term. Rank is indicated by both an individual number, with "1" representing first (highest) rank and the second number representing the number of University
baccalaureate graduates for that term. Prior to Fall 1992-93 totals included graduates for the entire
academic year. Effective Spring 2010-11 (June 2011) graduation rank is no longer calculated and, therefore, no longer appears on the transcript.
STUDENT ACADEMIC STATUS
The student is eligible to return unless otherwise noted. Academically dismissed undergraduate students
may petition for reinstatement under certain conditions. Graduate students are not academically dismissed although they may be denied permission to continue enrollment in certain programs. Disciplinary expulsion, which can apply both to graduate and undergraduate students, prohibits the student from ever attending 帝王会所 and from being present without permission on the Athens or any regional campus of 帝王会所. Effective Spring 2022-23, undergraduate students whose grade point average (GPA) for the semester is 4.0 for a minimum of 12 hours attempted for letter grades; or earned 12 hours with no GPA, 4.0 GPA for any courses attempted for letter grades, and were on the President鈥檚 List the previous semester of enrollment are noted as 鈥淧resident鈥檚 List.鈥 Undergraduate students whose GPA for the semester is 3.5 鈥 3.999 for a minimum of 12 hours attempted for letter grades; or earned 12 hours with no GPA, minimum 3.5 GPA for any courses attempted for letter grades, and were on the Dean鈥檚 List (or President鈥檚 List) the previous semester of enrollment are noted as 鈥淒ean鈥檚 List.鈥 Undergraduate students whose GPA for the semester is 3.5 or greater for 6 鈥 11.99 hours attempted for letter grades are noted as 鈥Provost鈥檚 List.鈥 For Fall 2012-13 through Fall 2022-23, undergraduate students who earn 15 semester hours of credit, including at least 12 hours attempted for letter grades, with a GPA of at least 3.5 are noted as 鈥淒ean鈥檚 List.鈥 For Spring 2019-20, Fall 2020-21, and Spring 2020-21 due to COVID-19, undergraduate students who earned 12 semester hours of credit, including at least six hours attempted for letter grades, with a GPA of at least 3.5 were noted as 鈥淒ean鈥檚 List.鈥 Prior to Fall 2012-13, undergraduate students who earned 16 or more hours in a quarter, of which at least 12 hours were attempted for grade points, with a minimum term grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 were noted as 鈥淒ean鈥檚 List.鈥 Prior to Fall 2005-06 the minimum GPA for 鈥淒ean鈥檚 List鈥 was 3.3.

OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT SECURITY VALIDATION
TO TEST FOR AUTHENTICITY: Translucent globe icons MUST be visible from both sides when held toward a light source. The face of this transcript is printed on green SCRIP-SAFE庐 paper with the name of the institution appearing in white type over the face of the entire document and it does not require a raised seal. The white signature of the University Registrar is imposed over the official 帝王会所 seal and must distort or disappear when photocopied.
ADDITIONAL TESTS: When photocopied, the words OHIO UNIVERSITY and the word COPY appear on
alternate rows as a latent image. A valid transcript must display each of these security features. When this paper is touched by fresh liquid bleach, an authentic document will stain brown. Facsimiles and photocopies are unofficial. If the transcript is hand delivered, it should be in an 帝王会所 security envelope. This document cannot be released to a third party without the written consent of the student. This is in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.
