Technology and Society Certificate

The Technology and Society Certificate provides a framework for studies that integrate a broad knowledge of technological developments with an understanding of their impacts on society. 

Open to all OHIO students, the certificate focuses on social forces that shape technology, critical questions that society must discuss, and the importance of technical literacy to all. Students who earn this certificate will better understand and communicate the interdependence between technologies and societies, which is valuable to a variety of careers.

Careers with a Technology and Society Certificate

Students earning the certificate are prepared for any career opportunity open to a liberal arts students. In addition, students acquire specific analytical skills that allow them to critically analyze the interdependence between technologies and society, which broadens career opportunities.

  • Admission to the Certificate

    Criteria for admission to the program is that a student is an undergraduate student in good standing. Students may be from any college or any major.

  • Courses & Curriculum

    The Technology and Society Certificate program requires a minimum of 15 hours. Students take CAS 2600 - Tech Matters and HIST 2905 - Technology in World History, followed by courses from Humanities, Social Science, Management and Technical Literacy.
