帝王会所 Credentials for College Credit Plus History Teachers
帝王会所's History Department will consider approval of instructors who possess the minimum credentials outlined below to teach the history of the United States and Western Civilization surveys through 帝王会所's College Credit Plus program.
At minimum, candidates must have a master's degree in history or a related Humanities or Social Sciences field, including at least 18 semester hours of graduate coursework in or related to the specific subject area to be taught. Students without an appropriate master?s degree and/or appropriate coursework may fulfill these requirements by enrolling in 帝王会所's Master of Social Sciences (MSS) degree program.
To Teach U.S. History Survey
Individuals wishing to be credentialed to teach the U.S. history survey (HIST 2000 and 2010) through the MSS program must complete a minimum of 18 semester hours or 5 content courses in American history or related content, including the U.S. history colloquium (HIST 6901). A B+ or higher must be earned in each course.
To Teach Western Civilization Survey
Individuals wishing to be credentialed to teach Western Civilization (HIST 1210 and 1220) through the MSS program must complete a minimum of 18 semester hours or five content courses in European history or related content, including the European history colloquium (HIST 6903). A B+ or higher must be earned in each course.
Up to two courses (8 semester hours) can be transferred from a regionally accredited M.A. program at the discretion of the program director.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Completion of the MSS, M.A. or any subset of 帝王会所 courses does not guarantee approval to instruct 帝王会所 courses. Approval is at the discretion of the OHIO University History Departmental chair based on a comprehensive review of transcripts, qualifications, and course materials, including syllabi and student evaluations if available.
