Instructions for Accessing Your 2024 W-2 Tax Statement

Form W-2 is an Internal Revenue Service tax form used in the United States to report wages paid to employees and the taxes withheld from them.

Starting in 2025 for the 2024 year, we are using the services of ADP to process and file the W-2 tax statements. 

  • You can access the online 2024 W-2 tax statements and any forthcoming year via My ADP ().
  • You can access online W-2 tax statements for the years prior to 2024 via

Current Employees

Through ADP, you are able to access an electronic version of your W-2. In addition, you have the opportunity to go paperless. There are several key benefits by going paperless:

Electronic delivery is more secure than paper mail: Your W-2 is a legal document that contains your Social Security number and your annual earnings. This information could be compromised if it is lost in the mail or misplaced.

You will have access to your W-2 earlier than those receiving it via mail: Electronic W-2 forms will be available before mailed forms. Employees who sign up for electronic delivery will be notified by email as soon as their W-2 is available.

How to access your online w-2 tax statement

Note to new employees: you will not be able to access ADP until after you have received your first paycheck from 帝王会所.

  1. Navigate to .
  2. If you have not signed into an OHIO account, you will be asked to single sign-on using your OHIO employee email and password to sign in.
  3. If it is your first time signing into ADP, you will be greeted with a message about going paperless for your tax statements. Choose whether you would like to:
    • Receive paperless statements by selecting the toggle and selecting 鈥淚 agree鈥 to the consent that pops up. 
      NOTE: If you elect to receive paperless statements, you will be automatically enrolled in email notifications about your tax statements.
    • Receive email notifications about your tax statements.
  4. Once you have selected your preferred methods, select 鈥X鈥 to close out the window.
  5. Once your W-2 tax statement is ready, you will see your W-2 appear in the box entitled 鈥淭ax Statements.鈥

Former Employees

How to access your online w-2 tax statement

  1. Navigate to ADP:  .
  2. If you have not already created an account with ADP, select Get Started. If you have already created an account, skip to step 9.

  3. On the next screen select I have a registration code.
    Note: The registration code is: OHIOUNIV-W2.

  4. Enter the registration code on the next screen.

  5. On the following screen, provide the required personal information.
    You will need:
    • Employee ID 鈥 You can find your 6-digit employee ID on your 帝王会所 pay slips, or you can contact the OIT Service Desk at 740-593-1222 or servicedesk@ohio.edu for assistance. If you contact the OIT service desk for your 6-digit employee ID, you will need to go through the .
    • Company code 鈥 帝王会所鈥檚 code is: 7QC
    • Zip Code 鈥 zip code of address on file with 帝王会所
    • SSA number- Your social security number.
    • ADP screenshot identify yourself
  6. A confirmation code will be texted to your phone number; input the confirmation code to proceed.
  7. On the next screen, add any relevant Primary Contact Information as needed, or add backup contact information if desired. Once complete, select Continue.
  8. Create your password by following the on-screen prompts and confirm your password by re-entering your new password in the confirmation box. Agree to the terms and conditions by selecting the check box and select Create your account to finalize your ADP account.
  9.   Sign in with your APD account UserID and password.
  10.   If it is your first time signing into ADP, you will be greeted with a message about going paperless for your tax statements. Choose whether you would like to: 
    • Receive paperless statements by selecting the toggle and selecting 鈥淚 agree鈥 to the consent that pops up.
      NOTE: If you elect to receive paperless statements, you will be automatically enrolled in email notifications about your tax statements. 
    • Receive email notifications about your tax statements. 
  11. Once you have selected your preferred methods, select 鈥X鈥 to close out the window.
  12. Once your W-2 tax statement is ready, you will see your W-2 appear in the box entitled 鈥淭ax Statements.鈥 

Opting into Paperless Tax Statements

  2. If it is your first time signing into ADP, you will be greeted with a message about going paperless for your tax statements. Choose whether you would like to:
    • Receive paperless statements by selecting the toggle and selecting 鈥淚 agree鈥 to the consent that pops up. 
      NOTE: If you elect to receive paperless statements, you will be automatically enrolled in email notifications about your tax statements
    • Receive email notifications about your tax statements
  3. Once you have selected your preferred methods, select the 鈥X鈥 to close out the window.
  4. If you initially do not elect to receive an electronic W-2 via the pop-up window, you can still opt in later.
    • To opt in, either:
      • Select the 鈥Go paperless鈥 button under the section entitled 鈥淕o Paperless鈥 to select the options for receiving a paperless W-2.
    • Change your account settings by:
      • Selecting "your account" in the upper right corner of the screen (a small circle with your initials) and selecting 鈥Settings.鈥
      • In your account settings, select the 鈥Go paperless鈥 button under the section entitled 鈥淕o Paperless鈥 to select the options for receiving a paperless W-2.

Understanding Your W-2

BOX 1: Wages, tips, other compensation

This is the amount that is subject to federal taxation.

BOX 2: Federal income tax withheld

This is amount of federal taxation withholding.  

BOX 3: Social Security wages

For 帝王会所, this box is typically blank. Some employees such as AmeriCorps employees will see the amount of wages subject to social security taxation.  

BOX 4: Social Security tax withheld

For 帝王会所, this box is typically blank. Some employees such as AmeriCorps employees will see the amount of social security taxes withheld.  

BOX 5: Medicare wages

The amount of wages subject to Medicare taxation.

BOX 6: Medicare tax withheld

This is the amount of Medicare tax withheld in the year. This amount is 1.45% of the amount shown in Box 5.鈥疐or employees who have wages in excess of $200,000 an additional Medicare surcharge tax of 0.9% was withheld.  

BOX 7-9: Not applicable for 帝王会所

BOX 10: Dependent care benefits

This box includes deductions for the self-elected Dependent Day Care Account.

BOX 11: Nonqualified Plans

This box is typically blank for 帝王会所 employees.  

BOX 12: Multiple items may appear in these boxes.

The following codes may appear:

EVoluntary pre-tax contributions to a 403(b) account; mandatory retirement contributions are not included.
DDReporting Employer Provided Health Coverage - reporting the cost of medical coverage (employee and employer portions).
GVoluntary pre-tax contributions to a 457(b) account; mandatory retirement contributions are not included.

BOX 13: The following boxes may be checked:

  • Statutory Employee - Not applicable for 帝王会所
  • Retirement Plan - this box would be checked if you are enrolled in a retirement plan and make mandatory retirement contributions
  • Third Party Sick Pay - Not Applicable for 帝王会所

BOX 14: Multiple items may appear in this box.

The following items could appear:

  • CT PFL, OR PFML, MA PFML or FLI 鈥 represent the Paid Family Leave contributions made by employees in Connecticut, Oregon, Massachusetts, or any other applicable state. These contributions are deducted from employees' paychecks and are listed in Box 14 of the W-2 form.
  • PA SUI 鈥 is the Pennsylvania State Unemployment Insurance mandatory tax for employees who work from Pennsylvania.
  • VTCCC 鈥 is the Vermont Child Care Contribution which represents the amounts contributed to Vermont's state-mandated childcare program for employees who work from Vermont.  

BOX 15: State Tax Information

This box indicates the state which taxes were subjected to and/or withheld and remitted to. The corresponding state ID will be in the box next to box 15. For the state of 帝王会所 that ID is 51-1644312.

Box 15 on your W-2 form may sometimes be blank, and the box next to it might indicate "TOTAL STATE." This means that taxes were withheld in more than one state. The specific amounts for each state can be found in the preceding sections of the form. To find the wage and tax information for a particular state, locate the section that lists that state.

BOX 16: State Wages, Tips, Other Compensation

Box 16鈥痮n the W-2 form shows your鈥痵tate wages, tips, etc.鈥疶his is the total amount of wages earned that is subject to state income tax. If you worked in multiple states, you might see multiple entries for Box 16, each corresponding to a different state.

For those who had "TOTAL STATE" in Box 15, it means that taxes were withheld in more than one state. In this case, Box 16 will show the combined state wages for all the states where taxes were withheld. To find the specific amounts for each state, you should look at the preceding sections of the W-2 form that list each state separately.

BOX 17: State Income Tax

Box 17 on the W-2 form shows the state income tax that was withheld from wages during the year.  

For those who have "TOTAL STATE" in Box 15, it means that taxes were withheld in more than one state. In this case, Box 17 will show the combined state income tax withheld for all the states. To find the specific amounts for each state, you should look at the preceding sections of the W-2 form that list each state separately.

BOX 18: Local Wages, Tips, Other Compensation  

Box 18鈥痮n the W-2 form shows your鈥痩ocal wages, tips, etc.鈥疶his is the total amount of income earned that is subject to local income tax. If you worked and/or lived in multiple localities that are subject to taxation, you might see different entries for Box 18, each corresponding to a different locality. Localities can include cities or school districts.

Box 18 on your W-2 form may sometimes be blank, and the box below it (Box 20) might indicate "TOTAL CITY." This means that taxes were withheld in more than one locality. The specific amounts for each locality can be found in the preceding sections of the form. To find the wage and tax information for a particular locality, locate the section that lists that locality

Box 19: Local Income Tax

Box 19鈥痮n your W-2 form shows the鈥痩ocal income tax鈥痶hat was withheld from your pay during the year.  

For those who had "TOTAL CITY" in Box 20, it means that taxes were withheld in more than one locality. In this case, Box 19 will show the combined local income tax withheld for all the localities. To find the specific amounts for each locality, you should look at the preceding sections of the W-2 form that list each locality separately.

Box 20: Locality Name

Box 20鈥痮n the W-2 form shows the鈥痭ame of the locality鈥痺here you are paying the tax listed in Box 19. This could be a city, school district, or other local taxing authority.

For those who had "TOTAL CITY" in Box 20, it means that taxes were withheld in more than one locality. In this case, Box 20 will show "TOTAL CITY," and you should look at the preceding sections of the W-2 form to find the specific localities and their corresponding wage and tax information.
