Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Admission Requirements
The basic requirement for admission is a bachelor鈥檚 degree in mechanical engineering. Applicants holding degrees in closely related fields or from non-accredited engineering institutions may be required to compensate for deficiencies with additional coursework prescribed by the department.
Additional Requirements
- The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) general test is required for all applicants (recommended: 153 verbal/ 161 quantitative).
- The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for applicants whose native language is not English (required minimum score of 80; IELTS requires a minimum of 6.5 on all parts).
- The requirement for minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) is 3.0.
- Three letters of recommendation are required from persons who can attest to the applicant鈥檚 academic and research aptitude.
- GPA, GRE and TOEFL scores, and engineering accomplishments are all considerations for admission, as well as for consideration of awarding tuition scholarships and stipends.
International Students
This program permits full-time enrollment in residence at 帝王会所. An I-20 may be issued based on admission to this program.

Course Requirements
OHIO鈥檚 Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering requires a minimum of 30 credit hours. Students must select 6 credits of mechanical engineering coursework at a 5000-level or above, of which at least 3 credits must be at the 6000-level or above. All students must complete additional elective credits to meet the 30 total credits requirement from any 5000-level or above engineering class.
Both thesis and non-thesis options are available to students receiving support from the department or college without special circumstances approved by both the Graduate Chair and the Graduate Committee.
