OMNI Vanguard Pilot Grant Program
Call for Grant Proposals
The 帝王会所 Musculoskeletal and Neurological Institute (OMNI) is excited to announce the launch of the "OMNI Vanguard Pilot Grant Program". This initiative is designed to foster innovative research ideas that promise to significantly enhance our competitiveness for external funding. We believe in seeding pioneering ideas and collaborations that can transform the landscape of musculoskeletal and neurological research.
Grant Focus Areas:
- New Collaborations: Proposals that establish or strengthen interdisciplinary collaborations.
- Preliminary Data Generation: Projects aimed at generating vital preliminary data to support larger grant applications.
- Bold and Ambitious Initiatives: Proposals for groundbreaking research with the potential to open new avenues in musculoskeletal and neurological science.
Budget and Return on Investment
- Maximum Budget: Proposals can request up to $500,000.
- Initial Discussion for Larger Budgets: Proposals exceeding $20,000 must first be discussed with Brian Clark.
- ROI Expectation: Each proposal must justify how the project will lead to a minimum 4-fold return on investment, considering OMNI鈥檚 receipt of 30% of indirect costs.
Proposal Requirements
- Potential for External Funding: Demonstrate how the project will increase the likelihood of securing external funding.
- Budget Justification: Include a detailed budget justification, outlining the expected 4-fold ROI.
- Project Timeline and Milestones: Provide a realistic timeline and key milestones for the project.
Application Process
- Submit a specific aims page, NIH bioksetch/biosketches, budget and budget justification.
- Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis with the deadline for the first round of considerations by April 1. 2024. Proposals must be submitted electronically via email to clarkb2@ohio.edu.

All proposed work must be relevant to OMNI鈥檚 mission, which is to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. Priority will be given to proposals with relevance to OMNI鈥檚 Center for Healthy Aging or OMNI鈥檚 Injury and Pain Research Center.
