Wellness

At the Russ College, we support all aspects of student wellness by offering targeted wellness programming and partnering with student resources across campus. Check out these resources below, and find even more on OHIO’s THRIVE website.

Emotional

Introductory courses such as ET 2800, the Russ College’s Engineering and Technology Overview; and UC 1900, Learning Community Seminar; cover skills such as emotional intelligence, teamwork and conflict resolution. Our regular wellness programming helps destigmatize mental and emotional health concerns.

Students also are eligible for free counseling services thanks to the wellbeing fee that’s included in the OHIO Guarantee.

Environmental

We offer student organizations that support the environment, including the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists, Bobcats Building a Better World, and the WERC Environmental Design Contest.

You can also participate with the Office of Sustainability on various annual events, or join the Climate and Sustainability Ambassadors.

Financial

Russ College students can obtain paid research opportunities, and internships and co-ops, to supplement their resume and budget. For more info., check out the Office of Professional Experiences.

Departments and student organizations also regularly share scholarship opportunities.

All students are also assigned a financial aid advisor and are encouraged to apply to continuing student scholarships each fall. On-campus jobs are posted .

Intellectual

The Russ College seeks to foster lifelong learning and critical thinking through learning communities, hands-on projects, and senior capstone experiences. The University also provides numerous academic support resources, including individual tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and study skills coaching.

Occupational

We encourage you to discuss your career goals and development each semester with your faculty advisor. The Office of Professional Experiences provides additional support through ET 1500: Career Orientation, three career fairs annually, and supplemental career coaching.

Physical

Campus Recreation provides numerous wellbeing resources, including fitness programming.

Social

Going beyond the classroom with student organizations and special events will help you make social and professional connections with other students, as well as with faculty and staff. We value students from all backgrounds, so we provide additional support for students from underrepresented groups through student organizations such as the Society of Women Engineers, National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and oSTEM.

Spiritual

Find spiritual activities that are meaningful to you. These might focus on finding purpose, meaning, or connection through self-reflection or conversations with others.
