M.A. in War and Peace Studies

M.A. in War and Peace Studies

The War and Peace Studies M.A. program addresses the recent and dramatic spike in demand for graduates with competencies in various areas related to war, conflict, security, peace and justice.

This interdisciplinary program combines a strong grounding in core Arts & Sciences disciplines with opportunities to form your course of study around your professional and academic goals.

You can enroll in courses offered by a range of schools and departments across the university in disciplines of interest. This flexible design supports individualized learning experiences across disciplinary boundaries.

This is a full-time program. Students taking a full load of 16 credits per semester will complete the program in two consecutive terms (fall and spring).

 

Careers with a War and Peace Studies Degree

This program prepares students for career opportunities in the U.S. national security sector, the United Nations and other multilateral bodies, the intelligence sector, human rights and humanitarian non-profit organizations, corporate risk management and security analysis, academia, and international journalism.

Tuition & Financial Aid Information

As a one-year program, the War and Peace Studies program does not currently offer competitive tuition scholarships and graduate assistantships.

Graduation Requirements

The War and Peace Studies M.A. program requires a minimum of 32 credit hours, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and no more than two grades below B, and a capstone project.

Sarah Ladipo MA '24 Grabbed the Opportunity to Earn a Master's

By the time she finished her bachelor's degree, Sarah Ladipo had traveled across four continents and studied the history and languages of many different cultures. She wrapped up her studies at OHIO with a master's degree in War and Peace Studies, thanks to a David M. Crane Graduate Fellowship for International Affairs.

Fellowship Helped Evan Schalon '23M to Study War and Peace

"I really wanted to stay another year in Athens. The one-year (War and Peace Studies) program was ideal, as it allowed me to do band another year, whilst pursuing a degree in something that will support my career goals of working in the international relations sphere," said Evan Schalon of the awarded the David M. Crane Graduate Fellowship for International Affairs.
