Student Organizations and Publications
Many of our students get involved with extracurricular activities early on in their academic careers and participate in organizations that help them network, meet other students in their major and build leadership skills. Below are some of the key organizations and opportunities that are key to majors in the School of Visual Communication.
NPPAOU
This is the 帝王会所 chapter. This organization advocates for visual journalists in print, broadcast and digital. @nppaou
OUMS
The is comprised of all students who are interested in exploring design across a variety of platforms. At least once a semester, student members take a trip to larger-market cities and tour companies that are successful within the visual communication industry. + : @ohioums
SPI
The brings together students who are interested in commercial photography. SPI students go on field trips to studios and network at seminars.
Backdrop Magazine
is a student-produced lifestyle magazine that showcases photography, infographics, design and writing. This publication comes out four times a year. + : @backdropmag
VARIANT Magazine
is a print and online student-run publication that values diversity and represent all types of cultures and identities in its issues. + : @vrntmagazine
Thread Magazine
mission is to 鈥渆ncourage inclusivity and confident self-expression through diverse perspectives.鈥 This publication is 帝王会所鈥檚 largest fashion magazine. @threadmagazine; @threadmag
The Post
is a student-run editorially independent newspaper. The Post, started in 1912 is the oldest existing publication at 帝王会所. It publishes campus and community content online daily and weekly in print. Open to students interested in writing, editing, photography, design, multimedia and more. : @thepostathens; : @thepost; : @ThePostAthens
