The School

At the School of Visual Communication, our main goals are to equip students with the necessary skills to be successful in the visual communication industry, and to provide them with the background and mindset to enable them to compete for leadership roles in the field. The school sets high standards for visual integrity and communication ethics, and work diligently with students to provide professional guidance as they focus on a particular path within the visual communication field. In an effort to provide practical training, along with class work, an internship is also required for the degree in Visual Communication.

During a spring semester Viscom Photography and Design Virtual Meetup, faculty, student ambassadors, and the assistant dean for Student Success in the Scripps College of Communication reviewed the four VisCom majors. Student ambassadors representing each major also showed and talked about their work and their experiences in the program:
