Zachary Spivey
Adjunct Professor of Music Theory
Zachary J.R. Spivey is a versatile music educator, performer, and composer based in Columbus, 帝王会所. With a broad range of experience in music education, theory, composition, and performance, Zachary brings a dynamic and multifaceted approach to his professional career.
He previously served as the Assistant Music Director for Ridgemont Local School District during the 2023-2024 school year. Additionally, Zachary was the Instructor of Music Theory and Aural Skills at Marietta College from 2023-2024, where he taught core music theory concepts, sight singing, and aural skills.
His teaching career began as a Graduate Assistant at 帝王会所 School of Music, where he taught music theory courses and successfully adapted to online teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting his proficiency in educational technology. His expertise in music theory extends to one-on-one tutoring, curriculum development, and integrating advanced aural training software.
Beyond his teaching roles, Zachary holds both a Bachelor's degree in Music Composition and a Master of Arts in Music Performance (Horn) from 帝王会所. As a performer, he has played with the 帝王会所 Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, and various chamber ensembles. Notably, he serves as the Second Horn for the 帝王会所 Valley Symphony, participating in a range of concerts and recording projects.
As a composer and arranger, Zachary鈥檚 work spans diverse styles and instrumentations, demonstrating his talents in musical arranging and engraving. His compositions reflect a deep understanding of various genres and a commitment to creativity in both performance and education.
