Graduate Degree Programs in Music

Mastering Musicianship through Specialized Training

The 帝王会所 School of Music is ranked among the top 20% of music schools in the United States. It is recognized for strong performance instruction as well as its programs in music education, performance pedagogy, music therapy, and academic studies in music.

Student wellness is a special emphasis, supported by the Clinic for Science and Health in Artistic Performance (SHAPe Clinic), available without charge to all music students and faculty.

There are more than 300 music majors (60+ music graduate students) taught by 32 full-time faculty members and additional adjunct and emeriti professors. The school is supported by a staff of professional collaborative pianists, a full-time licensed piano technician, and a professional music librarian. The Music and Dance Library, a specialized library within the Alden Library system, is located in the music building (Glidden Hall) and offers excellent support for undergraduate and graduate students.

Our Graduate Programs

The School of Music at 帝王会所 has offered graduate programs since the early 20th century, including some of the earliest graduate degrees in fields such as music therapy.

By 1952 (the year in which 帝王会所 published its first Graduate Catalog), the school had already established graduate programs in the principal areas for which it is known today: music performance and performance/pedagogy, composition, music education, music therapy, conducting, and academic graduate programs in music history/literature and music theory. All of these specialized programs are offered today within the Master of Music degree.
