Anne Marie Scotto
Adjunct Instructor of Music Theory
Dr. Anne Marie Scotto is currently an active collaborative pianist and an adjunct theory instructor at 帝王会所 in Athens. Before coming to Athens, Scotto held adjunct teaching positions at University of South Florida in Tampa and at the State University of New York in Geneseo. She has always divided her time between teaching and performing. During her career, in each city she has lived in, Scotto has been a member of active musical ensembles.
While at USF in Tampa, she was a core member of the Bay Baroque Ensemble, in which she was the harpsichordist, and she also briefly joined the new music ensemble Reflections. Her primary ensemble, however, was the Villani/Scotto duo. Together they were frequently heard in the Tampa Bay area. She recorded a cd with cellist Theresa Villani entitled Music for Meditation and Reflection. While at USF, Scotto also recorded two new works with the McCormick Percussion Group on the Ravello Records recording Between Rock and a Hard Place. It was at USF that Scotto began teaching aural skills as well as piano.
When living in Rochester, Scotto was not only the instrumental coach and accompanist at SUNY, responsible for playing in all the instrumental chamber recitals, but she was also the accompanist for the women鈥檚 chorus Concentus. With Concentus, Scotto made two recordings: Concentus, and Make We Joy. She was a founding member of Concentus and helped it grow into an ensemble that performs frequently in the upstate New York region.
In Seattle, Scotto was a member of the UW New Music Ensemble with whom she made two recordings for the journal Perspectives of New Music and performed new music all around the North West area. While still a graduate student, she built a large piano studio and began her life-long love of playing in recitals with violinists and cellists.
