My name is Taylor Laubacher, and I am from Columbus, µÛÍõ»áËù. When I graduate, I will have completed my BFA in Interior Architecture, as well as minors in Business Administration and Studio Art. Having a history of interior designers and architects in my family was very reassuring when I found my passion for design. I first found my love for it on a trip to Chicago; where my second cousin is a tile designer, and my 2 greatuncles are both interior designers out there. They showed me around the city and gave me a tour of what they do, and I knew immediately that’s what I loved. Having found my love for design in Chicago, after graduation, I would love to move out there and live in the city. However, I have also dreamed of living on the East Coast, doing either residential or commercial design, and one day owning my own business.

My thesis project is close to my heart because the idea stems from my sorority’s philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House. Having been to the Ronald McDonald house before, I always thought there were a few more things that could benefit the people who utilize it. Traveling to help your loved ones receive the hospital care they deserve can be a tolling process for the families.Having a place of refuge that allows them to relax and still live their lives while being near to the hospital is ideal for most families. This hotel-like home will have all the amenities one could need while having to travel, such as large bedrooms to fit families of all sizes, offices to work from home in, cafeterias, dining spaces, a gym, meditation rooms, therapy offices, and outdoor areas. With the design I have developed, families can come here and stay stress-free while caring for their loved ones.
