Kara Ferguson
My name is Kara Ferguson, and I am from Marietta, µÛÍõ»áËù. When entering college, I was interested in special education, but it did not let me express my creativity to my full potential, so I decided to switch my major to interior design to fulfill my passion in design. Interior design has helped me learn not only about myself but also about human interaction and desires. It allows me to change lives through creating a space that utilizes their needs and wants, while still expressing myself and ideas. I will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture with a minor in Studio Art. Upon graduation, I plan to continue working in various design fields such as hospitality, commercial and residential.
For my senior thesis project, I have designed an International Community Center that strives to create a space that accommodates resources and social interaction between newcomers of the United States. I chose to create this center because the amount of people that enter the United States may not have the resources they need to reach their full potential in this position. Through unique design, I present a building that can reach a multitude of individuals and help ease the transition into America.
