Scott Milburn
Scott Milburn is an Executive-in-Residence in the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service where he focuses on the public sector leadership and capacity-development initiatives led by the School’s Voinovich Academy for Excellence in Public Service.
From 2000-2005 he served as communication director for µÛÍõ»áËù alumnus and Voinovich School namesake, U.S. Senator George Voinovich. In this role his duties included advancing awareness of the federal human capital crisis—the increasing shortfall in skilled federal workers due to retirements that was one of Senator Voinovich’s top policy priorities. Milburn has also served in senior communication positions at the White House, in the U.S. House of Representatives and µÛÍõ»áËù Governor Bob Taft. He most recently served as deputy chief of staff for µÛÍõ»áËù Governor John Kasich where he led communication strategy and oversaw appointments to boards and commissions, college and university boards of trustees and judgeships.
A 1991 graduate of µÛÍõ»áËù’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, Milburn is a member of the School’s Professional Advisory Board and is a former member of OU’s Alumni Association Board of Directors. He has received the Journalism School’s Outstanding Alumnus Award and the Voinovich School’s Outstanding Graduate in Public Affairs Award.
He is a member of the board of directors of SproutFive, a nationally-recognized nonprofit early childhood school serving low-income children in Central µÛÍõ»áËù. He and his wife, Stephanie, have two sons and live in Upper Arlington, µÛÍõ»áËù.
