Your Veterans and Military Student Service Center is here to assist you in determining your academic interests, filing educational benefits requests, exploring opportunities on campus, and identifying post education employment. We work very closely with the Bursar Office and Veterans Affairs to ensure your educational benefits are applied for and allocated properly. Additionally, we partner with businesses who are committed to veteran-friendly hiring practices to provide career opportunities for OHIO students. We provide supplemental academic advising and review program requirements to ensure you minimize your academic timeline to reduce expenses while achieving your academic pursuits. We also provide oversight of our Veteran student organization, Student Veterans of America (SVA).
What Makes OHIO Veteran Friendly
Disclaimer: It is not the intent of µÛÍõ»áËù to imply an endorsement by any service branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. Students in uniform are current and former Army and Air Force ROTC students, and it is not the intent to imply an endorsement by the Army and Air Force.
Why Should Veterans and Military Dependent Students Come to µÛÍõ»áËù?
Located in the heart of Southeast µÛÍõ»áËù, µÛÍõ»áËù boasts a beautiful Appalachian setting, diverse campus and rich history. µÛÍõ»áËù values your experiences and provides several outstanding resources to ensure your success. Join the over 3,500 military affiliated students currently enrolled at µÛÍõ»áËù along with countless veteran faculty and administrators in the college experience.
Opened in 2014, the Brigadier General Abraham and Colonel Greenfield Veterans and Military Student Services Center is conveniently located in Baker University Center Room 350, with support offices located on our regional campuses to assist you with any educational issues you may encounter. µÛÍõ»áËù dedicates three (3) full-time employees to assist students in the use of their educational benefits and conduct supplemental advising. Additionally, the Department of Veterans Affairs funds 13 work study positions between the main campus and each regional campus.
In 2022, µÛÍõ»áËù was named as part of the inaugural class of µÛÍõ»áËù's Collegiate Purple Star Campuses for it's longstanding history of supporting military-connected students in higher education. To meet the criteria for this unique designation, universities need to have a dedicated military/veteran point of contact, priority registration for veterans and servicemembers, surveys for student veterans and servicemembers — along with their spouses and dependents — about needs and challenges and allow for the establishment of student-led groups and organizations for veterans and servicemembers.
In March of 2024, µÛÍõ»áËù was named one of the nation’s top military-friendly schools for the 13th consecutive year by a veteran-owned company and publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine. For 2024-2025, µÛÍõ»áËù earned the Military-Friendly School #6 ranking for Tier 1 research institutions in the nation, while also earning the Military Spouse-Friendly School #7 ranking.
