Air Force ROTC Courses


Earn a minor in Aerospace Studies by completing all Aerospace Studies courses (8 courses/16 credit hours). Students need to complete individual courses with a minimum grade of C- and maintain an overall minimum 2.5 GPA in the minor.

Learning Community (UC 1900) - Freshman

Description: UC 1900, Air Force ROTC Learning Community helps new students get connected and support them during their transition from home and high school to µÛÍõ»áËù and Athens. As part of the Air Force ROTC Learning Community, you'll share a common experience with others students in the Air Force ROTC program. Together, you'll take a series of classes. You'll gain a deeper understanding of your courses, subject matter, and make friends both inside and outside the classroom.

Once you have signed up for Air Force ROTC classes you will be invited to join the Air Force ROTC Learning Community. 

Aerospace Studies 100 â€“ Freshman

Description: AST 1010 (Fall), AST 1020 (Spring), "Heritage and Values," is a survey course designed to introduce students to the United States Air and Space Forces and provides an overview of the basic characteristics, missions, and organization of the Air and Space Forces. 1 credit per term.

Aerospace Studies 200 â€“ Sophomore

Description: AST 2010 (Fall), AST 2020 (Spring), "Team and Leadership Fundamentals," provides a fundamental understanding of both leadership and team building. The lessons and course flow are designed to prepare students for field training and leadership positions in the detachment. 1 credit per term.

Aerospace Studies 300 â€“ Junior

Description: AST 3010 (Fall), AST 3020 (Spring), "Leading People and Effective Communication," utilizes student’s field training experience to take a more in-depth look at leadership. Special emphasis is placed on enhancing communication skills, and why that is important as a leader. Students have an opportunity to try out these leadership and management techniques in a supervised environment as juniors and seniors. 3 credits per term.

Aerospace Studies 400 â€“ Senior

Description: AST 4010 (Fall), AST 4020 (Spring), "National Security, Leadership Responsibilities and Commissioning Preparation," is designed for college seniors and gives them the foundation to understand their role as military officers and how they are directly tied to our National Security Strategy. It is an overview of the complex social and political issues facing the military profession and requires a measure of sophistication commensurate with the senior college level. 3 credits per term.

Leadership Laboratory (LLab) – All

Description: AST 1010L, 2010L, 3010L or 4010L (Fall), AST 1020L, 2020L, 3020L, or 4020L (Spring), Leadership Laboratory is a dynamic and integrated grouping of leadership developmental activities designed to meet the needs and expectations of prospective Department of the Air Force second lieutenants and complement the AFROTC academic program. It is a student planned, organized, and executed practicum conducted under the supervision of the Detachment Commander and Operations Flight Commander. Includes additional physical training two to three times per week. 1 credit hour per term.
