Who We Are

Founded in 1924, the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism prepares students for rewarding careers as communicators.

Our more than 700 students gain experience working for award-winning student publications, broadcasts, and organizations while also learning in the classroom in a program that has been accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications since 1952.

Undergraduate students can earn a Bachelor of Science in Journalism degree on either the News and Information or Strategic Communication tracks, or develop an individualized course of study within the journalism framework through the Carr Van Anda Program. We also offer the Advertising and Public Relations minor and the Journalism minor.

Our graduate program offers the Master of Science Degree in Journalism, with the chance for students to take part in a double-degree program in partnership with the University of Leipzig in Germany.  We also offer a three-year Ph.D. program in mass communication-journalism.

The E.W. Scripps School of Journalism is also home to a host of special programs, including the High School Journalism Workshop, one of the longest-running programs of its kind, the Schuneman Symposium, which brings acclaimed journalists and experts to OHIO, and the Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism.

Whether it's telling a storybuilding a brand, or engaging in research, we prepare students for their chosen professions now and as those professions change in the future.
