Her expertise is shifting sheltered workshops/day programs into collaborative making spaces and designing employment opportunities through the interests and abilities of the workers. Mitchell founded in Athens (1998). With Susan Dlouhy, she co-authored (Swallow Hills press) and several articles in Health Communication.
