Farewell to Cindy Perry!

November 30, 2022

After more than 33 years at 帝王会所, our Director of Grants Accounting Cindy Perry has decided to retire.  Julie Allison, AVP of Finance and Cindy鈥檚 supervisor states: 鈥淐indy has led us through numerous federal indirect cost studies but where Cindy鈥檚 experience and expertise really shined was through COVID. Cindy served as lead on managing over $92M in COVID-related funds from various federal and state agencies! We could not have gotten through this unprecedented time and funding level without Cindy!鈥

Cindy came to the university in 1989 and started out in Parks Hall as part of Osteopathic Medicine working with physicians.  Over the course of the next 12 years, she served in a variety of capacities across several different organizations鈥he Bursars Office, HCOM, Student Financial Aid, and the College of Education.  Cindy landed in Grants Accounting in 2001 and has been here for the last 21 years.

Cindy has been a valued member of the Controller鈥檚 Office leadership team and played a big role in the Financial Services Enhancement (FSE) project when we converted the Chart of Accounts and implemented Oracle Grants Accounting (replacing Project Accounting).  She was an excellent partner to the team representing many different constituents (campus researchers, ORSP, as well as governmental and sponsor guidelines) and ensuring their various perspectives and needs were met.

Cindy is well-thought of by her co-workers throughout the division.  She is always willing to dig into issues and help to bring clarity to the problems.  Always pleasant, even when asked variations of the same questions repeatedly! Allison added that 鈥漮n a personal note, I will miss Cindy鈥檚 kindness, her sense of humor 鈥 even when things were stressful (like during the chart of accounts conversion!), and her dedication to not only the University but to the people she worked with every day. Cindy was always there to serve, and I know I am not the only one that appreciates all she has done for them.

Her last day with the university is November 30.  A national search is underway for a successor.  In the interim, please direct questions to financecustomercare@ohion.edu, and Julie and the Grants Team will work to resolve any questions you may have.
