What to Consider:  Removing a course from their schedule can affect students financially as well as affect their ability to progress through their program. Students considering dropping a course are encouraged to speak with their faculty or the Graduate Advisor before removing the course and should consider the following:

Refunds: In order to receive a refund of fees, students must drop their course BEFORE 12:01AM on the first day it meets. If a student drops after that time, they are eligible for an 80 percent refund. If a student removes a course after the Drop Deadline, they will not be entitled to a refund of fees. Drop and Withdraw deadlines for courses are available in the course offerings.

Financial Aid: A student’s financial aid or scholarship may be affected if a student drops a course. Students are encouraged to contact Student Financial Aid and Scholarships at: 740.593.4141 or at financial.aid.elearn@ohio.edu for the best information.

Program Sequence: Cohorts starting graduate nursing programs are given a program of study with an established completion timeline and availability of courses. Students removing a graduate nursing course from their schedule will be going out of sequence and will need to request a new program of study. The Blended Format and Nurse Educator Program only offer graduate nursing courses during certain semesters, which may affect a student’s completion.

Program Eligibility: Per the School of Nursing Grading Policy in the Graduate Student Handbook withdrawing from a Nursing course will mean that the course must be repeated. Any single course may only be repeated once. A grade of WF (withdrawn failing) is considered a failed attempt at a course, so the student must retake the course and be successful to remain eligible to continue in the program. A student is permitted to have a total of two failed attempts over the course of their program and remain eligible to continue. Upon a student’s third failed attempt, they will be dismissed. Retaking a graduate course does not remove the WP/WF on your academic record.
