Admissions Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or equivalent
  • Official Transcripts of all academic work must be submitted with the online application.
  • Curriculum vitae or academic resume. Recent college graduates are requested to submit a two-page curriculum vitae that indicates your accomplishments relevant to the academic realm and demonstrates your capacity for academic success in this program. Applicants who have been working in professional careers for three or more years may provide an academic resume that demonstrates your intellectual characteristics, critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, and ability to effectively communicate.
  • Two letters of recommendation. Recent college graduates are requested to submit two academic letters of reference. Applicants who have been working in professional careers for three or more years may provide professional or academic references that speak to your intellectual characteristics, critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, and ability to effectively communicate.
  • Statement of purpose. Please submit a personal statement of 1,000 words or less describing your background, interests, plans for graduate study, and career aspirations.The statement should include a discussion of some experiences and ideas that have shaped those interests, plans and aspirations, and why OHIO's M.A. in Law, Justice & Culture is the right program for you to pursue graduate study. This is one of the most important parts of the application, and considerable care should be taken in crafting it.
  • Optional writing sample. The writing sample should represent your very best academic work, regardless of the topic, and it should demonstrate your capacity for clear expression, close reading, skilled observation, critical thinking and the creative, rigorous interpretation of empirical data.

  • A $50 application fee is associated with the submission of your application for this program.

Application Deadlines

  • Online Program

    There are three starts per year: January (spring semester), May (summer semester), and August (fall semester).

    Spring semester start (January): deadline for submitting applications is Nov. 15.

    Summer semester start (May): application submission deadline is April 1.

    Fall semester start (August): application submission deadline is July 15.

  • On-Campus Program

    Students start in the Fall (August).

    Priority application deadline is March 1. After that, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, as space permits.
