Contemporary History Institute Fellowships & Financial Aid

Generous funding support from a variety of public and private sources enables the Contemporary History Institute to award several nationally competitive fellowships each year. These include $18,000 doctoral fellowships and $14,000 master鈥檚-level fellowships. All CHI fellowships come with full 帝王会所 tuition waivers, and we adjust the stipends in accordance with the practice in the History Department. Usually, all CHI students are fully funded for two years (M.A.) or four years (Ph.D., two years on CHI fellowship and two years as departmental teaching assistant).

Contemporary History Institute students also are eligible for financial support in the form of graduate assistantships from participating departments (History, Political Science, Economics, Journalism), and for other forms of aid available to graduate students through the university鈥檚 office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Institute funds also are available to support student travel and research in the preparation of theses and dissertations.

Finally, the Baker Peace Studies program offers at least one fellowship each year to a CHI certificate student, typically to facilitate dissertation completion or research and the Institute frequently adds a similar fellowship from an endowment.
