Faculty and Graduate Student Research and Travel Grants
Spring 2025 Application Process
The Central Region Humanities Center (CRHC) invites applications from µÛÍõ»áËù faculty and graduate students for grants of up to $750 to support the acquisition of research materials or research-related travel in the Calendar Year 2025.
Eligibility: Research projects must relate in some fashion to µÛÍõ»áËù and/or one of the larger geographic regions of which it is a part: e.g. the µÛÍõ»áËù River Valley, the Great Lakes Region, the Old Northwest Territory, the Midwest. Any µÛÍõ»áËù faculty member or graduate student in a humanities or humanities-related discipline is eligible to apply.*
Application Procedure: All applicants must submit the following materials: 1. A 500-600-word abstract that explains the research project, its significance to the humanities, and the role a CRHC grant would play in launching, advancing, or completing the project in the calendar year. 2. A proposed budget for use of CRHC funds in the project. Graduate student applicants should also include a statement by their advisor endorsing their application. All components of the application should be submitted as a single document via email attachment to jellison@ohio.edu by March 15, 2023. The CRHC Executive Committee will begin evaluating applications immediately following that deadline with the goal of informing recipients no later than March 31, 2025.

*According to the National Endowment for the Humanities, “The term ‘humanities’ includes, but is not limited to, the study of the following: language, both modern and classical; linguistics; literature; history; jurisprudence; philosophy; archaeology [and anthropology]; comparative religion; ethics; the history, criticism, and theory of the arts; those aspects of social sciences which have humanistic content and employ humanistic methods; and the study and application of the humanities to the human environment with particular attention to reflecting our diverse heritage, traditions, and history and to the relevance of the humanities to the current conditions of national life.
