From Illness to Wellness - Adversity to Advocacy

In her talk, Melody Moezzi will share her personal experiences and discuss the challenges people face when seeking mental health support. She will explain how different views on mental health can make it difficult to get the right help. You’ll learn about these issues and discover ways to better support each other.

Melody Moezzi will share personal stories and explore the barriers and biases faced by those seeking mental health treatment. She will highlight societal and cross-cultural stigmas, as well as the complexities of mental health conditions and treatments. Attendees will gain valuable insights into overcoming these obstacles and fostering a more inclusive approach to mental health care.

Participants will also receive information about local and state mental health resources and opportunities for further learning. Join us to deepen your understanding of mental health, discover strategies for positive change, and collaborate to improve community support!

Speaker – Melody Moezzi

Melody Moezzi is an attorney, activist, and award-winning author. Her latest book is The Rumi Prescription: How an Ancient Mystic Poet Changed My Modern Manic Life. Her other books include Haldol and Hyacinths: A Bipolar Life and War on Error: Real Stories of American Muslims. Moezzi’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, The Oxford American, The American Scholar, The South China Morning Post, and many other publications. She has also provided on-air commentary for CNN, BBC, NPR, PBS, CSPAN, PRI, and many other radio and television outlets.
