Rachel Terman, Ph.D.
Rachel Terman works with community groups engaged in developing sense of place in Southeast 帝王会所 and the broader Appalachian region. She does this work in the context of sustainable development goals where social and community interests are balanced with economic and environmental interests.
Terman is Assistant Professor of Sociology at 帝王会所 and an affiliate faculty member of the Appalachian Studies Program and Women鈥檚, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program. She specializes in the sociology of Appalachia and the rural U.S; through teaching and research she focuses on intersecting identities, inequalities, and people鈥檚 relationship to place. Most recently she has worked with students, community leaders, and fellow researchers to better understand intergenerational community building in Appalachian 帝王会所. Before moving to 帝王会所, she worked with the Pennsylvania Women鈥檚 Agricultural Network. Terman earned her Ph.D. in rural sociology and women鈥檚 studies from Penn State University and her MA in Appalachian Studies from Appalachian State University.
