42nd Annual Leadership Awards celebrate student initiative at 帝王会所
帝王会所 honored exceptional student leaders and organizations during the 42nd Annual Leadership Awards ceremony, held in the Baker University Center Ballroom on April 9, 2025.
The event recognized individuals and groups who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, service and commitment to the OHIO community.
University leadership, faculty, staff, notable alumni and trustees were among those in attendance for the awards ceremony, as well as the family, friends and mentors who were a valuable part of the reason the honorees were recognized that evening.
鈥淚n many ways, 帝王会所鈥檚 legacy is a tribute to generations of student leaders who have paved our 221-year existence,鈥 said Vice President for Student Affairs Lyn Redington during her opening words. 鈥淚n 1984, 帝王会所 hosted the first student leadership awards ceremony, beginning the tradition that we have carried on for more than 40 years.鈥
鈥淲e are who we are because students through time led with passion and vision,鈥 added Redington.
鈥淎t OHIO, we are committed to valuing, appreciating, and celebrating every individual who shapes our community. The strength of our institution lies in our ability to embrace and engage the cultural richness that defines our campus,鈥 said Interim Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion Russell Morrow before the first set awards were announced.
Selection committees, comprising faculty members, staff, alumni and graduate students, reviewed anonymous submissions to identify and honor the most deserving candidates, awarding 26 award categories to 40 honorees this year.
Among those awarded was , the student organization that received an Arnold Allyship Award. VARIANT Magazine is a fashion publication dedicated to uplifting diverse perspectives while championing creativity and representation.
Grace Cobb, a fourth-year student majoring in virtual reality and game development, was a recipient of the Charles J. Ping International Leadership Award. In Cobb鈥檚 nomination, one supporter wrote, 鈥淕race doesn鈥檛 just create spaces 鈥 she transforms them into welcoming, dynamic communities where all students feel seen and valued.鈥 Through her roles with AAPISU and OPIE, she has strengthened cross-cultural understanding and empowered underrepresented students.
These honorees exemplify the dedication and impact of OHIO students in fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus environment. Their contributions have left a lasting impression on the University community.
New student member of the Board of Trustees
The evening concluded with the selection of OHIO鈥檚 new student trustee.
Matt Evans, the vice chair of the 帝王会所 Board of Trustees, introduced the new trustee. The student trustees serve as members of the Board of Trustees and are a trusted voice among students, faculty and staff.
This year鈥檚 incoming student trustee is Ava Wood, who is studying environmental studies in the Honors Tutorial College.
