Line-up announced for the 52nd Athens International Film + Video Festival

From April 7–13, 2025,  will present its 52nd edition, showcasing over 200 films from more than 58 countries at the historic Athena Cinema in uptown Athens, OH. The festival will feature , all competing for top honors. Winners, chosen by an independent jury, will receive cash prizes and awards, with select categories offering Academy Award-qualifying status. This year’s festival promises a stellar collection of special events, film screenings and multiple social gatherings.

As part of this year’s jury and AIFVF’s distinguished visiting artist lineup, three visionary filmmakers will present solo programs. On opening night, returning festival favorite and animator  will dazzle audiences with her signature collaged and glitter-infused vision of resistance. Athens native and festival alum  explores themes of bodies, queerness, and memory, weaving personal narratives into their films. California-based experimental animator  blurs the line between reality and imagination with her anthropomorphic creations, offering a glimpse into her otherworldly and mesmerizing animations.

Thanks to the generous support of Arts for µÛÍõ»áËù, all screenings and events are free for students. Tickets can be picked up at the  box office on the day of each screening. Professors are encouraged to bring their classes to experience the broad range of topics featured at the festival.
