Black History Month program planned at 帝王会所 Chillicothe

In conjunction with the Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library and the Ross County Chapter of the NAACP, 帝王会所 Chillicothe will host a Black History Month program focused on the theme of African American Labor on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m.

The event will begin with a meet and greet during which time visitor are invited to view art on display at the Patricia Scott Memorial Art Gallery in Bennett Hall and enjoy light refreshments outside the Bennett Hall Auditorium. The program will begin in the Bennett Hall Auditorium at 7 p.m. and feature music from the Unified Choir and an African drum and dance performance by Dr. Tanya Price.

Dr. Uzoma Miller, assistant professor of African American Studies at 帝王会所 will present a talk on "Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters Humanized and Made Visible: Commemorating the Intersections of Black History and Labor."

帝王会所 will celebrate Black History Month throughout the month of February with several special exhibits and events for all members of the OHIO community.

The national theme for Black History Month 2025 is 鈥淎frican Americans and Labor." This theme is focused on honoring the past while exploring the legacy of African Americans and how labor informed historical experiences.

During this month, 帝王会所 will host lectures, exhibits, presentations and events that will encourage the study of the history of Black Americans while focusing on the theme of  鈥淎frican Americans and Labor."

All OHIO students, faculty, staff, alumni and community residents are invited to Black History Month activities.
