On Monday, March 18, OHIO鈥檚 LGBT Center will celebrate its official day as the newly renamed Pride Center.

帝王会所 Student Senate, which unanimously passed a bill in October 2023 in support of the name change, will join OHIO leadership during a on March 20 to both commemorate the Center's 25+ year history and serve as a rededication to the Center's core mission of education, connection, celebration and support.

The Rededication Reception is one of many planned 鈥�Student Senate Pride Week鈥� events that will be hosted by members of Student Senate between March 18-22.

LGBT Center Director Micah McCary expressed his deep appreciation for the advocacy and support of Student Senate throughout the renaming process and said he鈥檚 excited for the Pride Center to continue to serve as a welcoming, inclusive resource for all.

鈥淭he Pride Center will remain a resource for all students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and other community members,鈥� McCary said. 鈥淭hrough advocacy, the arts, individual consultations, community gatherings and other supportive strategies, our goal is to serve and celebrate people of all genders, orientations and expressions of identity.鈥�

LGBT Center Assistant Director Sarah Doherty emphasized the Center鈥檚 longstanding history of supporting students 鈥� support that would not be possible without the help of the University community and others.

鈥淲e are incredibly proud of the many students who have found knowledge, friendship, mentorship, leadership and more through their engagement with the Center,鈥� Doherty said. 鈥淲e are also tremendously appreciative of the faculty, staff, alumni, community members and supporters without whom the Center鈥檚 work would be impossible.鈥�
