Fight the phish this Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a timely reminder that learning the best ways to fight phishing is crucial.
Phishing is a type of social engineering attack that is often used to steal personal information.
Cybercriminals usually do this by crafting emails that appear to be from a reputable company or individual that ask for your information. Once you submit your information, the cybercriminal uses it for their own gains.
There is no concrete way to prevent phishing attacks, so awareness and knowledge are our strongest lines of defense. Here at 帝王会所, we want to arm our community with helpful resources to help identify phishing messages and prevent our community from falling victim to scams. Check out the Office of Information Technology鈥檚 tips for recognizing and reporting phishing and learn how to fight the phish.
Once you are armed with the skills to effectively recognize phishing messages, be sure to check out the Phishbowl, a tool created by the Information Security Office to provide the university community with information about active phishing campaigns impacting OHIO or to validate that messages that may appear to be phishing are in fact legitimate.
