Enhancing security and the user experience: application names added in Azure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
For enhanced security and user-experience, the Office of Information Technology has added application names to the number-matching prompt when utilizing the Microsoft Authenticator smartphone app to authenticate multi-factor requests.
For example, if a user is prompted to authenticate when logging into Workforce, 鈥淲orkforce鈥 will appear on the Microsoft Authenticator smartphone app screen, indicating the request鈥檚 origin. The name indicates the app that is requesting authentication. If the user is not currently attempting to open the app named in the authenticator, then the request may be malicious. Be sure to report suspicious activity to Information Security at security@ohio.edu.
