‘Gatherings, Spring 2023’ features a glimpse into University Libraries’ offerings

Libraries is delighted to announce the new release of its annual magazine “Gatherings, Spring 2023” is now live. This issue focuses on the Libraries’ work on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA), some notable news about its staff and a year in review photo and video essay.

The Libraries has been working toward increasing DEIA efforts in order to make progressive actions toward social justice in its decision-making processes. Actions such as the new Asian American and Pacific Islander collection in the Mahn Center, text availability with the online depository HathiTrust, the Luminaries internship program that allows those from underrepresented backgrounds to experience librarianship and the Press’ impressive publication of diverse books are just a few of the steps University Libraries has been taking in relation to its Strategic Plan.

Some notable news highlighting seven staff members, whether they be newly hired or in a new position, is also featured along with what they have been working on in their positions. A year in review photo essay caps off the magazine with pictures spotlighting a few of the many exciting events that have occurred during the academic year. Videos from a new student-created series, “This is Alden,” are also included with its informational presentation of University Libraries.
