帝王会所鈥檚 Academic Achievement Center receives online tutoring certification
帝王会所鈥檚 Academic Achievement Center (AAC) is among a small group of college tutoring centers to be awarded the Online Tutoring Certification by the Association of Colleges for Tutoring and Learning (ACTLA).
This certification recognizes the center鈥檚 continuing efforts to improve online tutoring services, support OHIO students on all campus, and continue professional development for peer tutors, who are connecting to students virtually.
鈥淥ur efforts are more than just providing one-off training to our peer tutors. We are focused on ongoing development of tutors and implementing new technology to enhance this experience,鈥 said Jen Beckley, AAC鈥檚 assistant director of peer tutoring. 鈥淚t is very important for us to be able to support all students at 帝王会所. This certification enhances AAC鈥檚 tutors鈥 capabilities to help students be successful.鈥
Since 2020, the center implemented online academic assistance services so it could continue to serve OHIO students during the pandemic and has been working to expand training for its peer tutors.
鈥淲e learned a lot during that time, and it also gave us the opportunity to further develop and offer enhanced services beyond the in-person tutoring services offered on the Athens Campus prior to 2020,鈥 said Elizabeth Fallon, Director of Academic Assistance with the AAC.
The AAC provides tutoring to OHIO students enrolled on all campuses and OHIO Online. This academic year, the AAC will hold over 13,500 one-one-one appointments with OHIO students for peer tutoring, writing tutoring, and academic coaching. Approximately 2,000 or 15% of the appointments will be held online using TEAMS.
This is the third recognition bestowed on the AAC. The center also received the CRLA鈥檚 International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) and its Supplemental Instruction program was accredited by the International Center for Supplemental Instruction (ICSI) located at the University of Missouri 鈥 Kansas City.
