Kushinda/Ritos de Pasaje celebration to applaud multicultural graduating students
The 帝王会所 Division of Diversity and Inclusion will be hosting a celebration for all graduating multicultural students.
Kushinda/Ritos de Pasaje aims to unite the OHIO community in uplifting our Black, Latinx and multicultural undergraduate and graduate students and their accomplishments at OHIO.
鈥淜耻蝉丑颈苍诲补鈥 is a Swahili term meaning 鈥渧ictorious.鈥 Ritos de Pasaje" means Rites of Passage and are initiations in the Latinx/Hispanic tradition leading individuals through significant stages of life. Both rituals seek to commemorate the existence and rich cultural histories of multicultural communities.
A mixer for the graduates will be held on Friday, April 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Athens Uncorked, located at 14 Station Street in Athens. This will be a chance for the graduating class to connect and share memories prior to commencement.
The formal Kushinda/Ritos de Pasaje ceremony will follow on Friday, May 5, starting at 7 p.m. in the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. Friends, family members and OHIO faculty and staff are invited to attend. Each graduate will be recognized and asked to wear their graduation regalia.
