Feb. 27 roundtable, musical performance will highlight humanitarian efforts in Ukraine
帝王会所's Center for International Studies (CIS) will host a roundtable conversation "Humanitarianism in Ukraine: One Year In," on Monday, Feb. 27, from 12-1:30 p.m. in Baker University Center 240/242.
The event is, which is part of 鈥淭he World Now鈥 series sponsored by the CIS, will provide updates to the OHIO community on the dire situation in Ukraine and humanitarian aid to the country. For those unable to attend in person, the event will also be available .
As the war in Ukraine enters its second year, humanitarian relief continues to flow to Ukrainians from around the world鈥攁nd the OHIO and Athens communities have been very active contributors to that effort.
The roundtable will feature panel members from Bobcats for Ukraine, including two members currently in Ukraine, as well as Athens residents Benya Stewart and Brett Hill, who have raised funds and traveled to Ukraine to deliver much-needed supplies. Stewart and Hill, both accomplished musicians, will also perform Ukrainian folk music at the event.
鈥淭he work that鈥檚 been done and continues to be done for Ukraine at OHIO and by members of the Athens community is truly inspiring,鈥 said Patrick Barr-Melej, interim executive director of the Center for International Studies. 鈥淭his event provides everyone an opportunity to get first-hand updates about ongoing humanitarian projects on the ground amid such an enormous tragedy.鈥
