Facilities Management and Safety shares winter break energy conservation tips
Energy conservation is important to 帝王会所, and we鈥檙e continually working to incorporate sustainability into our campus processes, including the design of new buildings, major renovation projects, transportation programs and the maintenance and operation of campus infrastructure.
Facilities Management and Safety encourages members of the campus community to review the following energy conservation tips and to consider taking action before departing their residence halls and offices for the winter break closure. These measures will help 帝王会所 save energy, reduce environmental impacts and minimize costs.
- Turn off and unplug all electrical items, including holiday decorations, fans, coffee pots, TVs, chargers, computers, monitors and printers*
- Turn off window air-conditioning units
- Close and lock all windows
- Clean out and unplug small refrigerators; place a towel or old newspaper under the fridge and prop the door open if you think water leakage may occur due to defrosting
- If possible, adjust thermostats to lower temperatures, but no lower than 50 degrees Fahrenheit
- Turn off lights
- Close blinds
- Take home plants or other items that require watering and/or cannot tolerate fluctuating temperatures.
Please be advised that temperatures in 帝王会所 buildings may experience fluctuations during the Winter Break due to automated building temperature settings, in particular for these locations:
- Luchs Hall
- Tanaka Hall
- Sowle Hall
- Carr Hall
- Washington Hall
- Jefferson Hall and Jefferson Marketplace
- Shively Diving
- The District at Boyd
- Tupper Hall
