Announcing the launch of the OHIO Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment

The OHIO Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment (CTLA) will launch by fall 2022. A revitalization and expansion of OHIO鈥檚 existing Center for Teaching and Learning, the CTLA is one component of a broader effort to provide holistic support for faculty development in all areas, such as teaching, research and creative activity, service, and community engagement.

The CTLA鈥檚 mission will be to support faculty needs and strengthen faculty competencies related to teaching, learning, and assessment. 

To achieve its mission, five functional areas of the CTLA will provide support and coordinate university-wide opportunities for:

  • Faculty development related to teaching, learning, and assessment, such as workshops, academies, consultations, a digital resource library, and external training/webinars.
  • Faculty collaborations related to teaching, learning, and assessment, such as faculty learning communities, faculty fellows, teaching and learning conferences, a peer teaching observation program, and a mentorship academy.
  • Assessment of student achievement of learning outcomes, such as training, consultations, and resources to advance program assessment, general education assessment, and student success.
  • Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, which will include faculty research networks, seminars, and scholarship highlights.
  • University policies and procedures related to teaching, learning, and assessment, which will include collaborations with the Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Committee, Faculty Senate鈥檚 Educational Policy and Student Affairs Committee, and the University Curriculum Council.

The University鈥檚 next step in launching the CTLA will be to recruit an executive director via a national search. Funding for the position will come from the Strategic Opportunity Reserve. Members of the search committee include:

The goal is to hire an executive director and start to build resources and opportunities for faculty beginning in Fall 2022.
