Learn to boulder and belay with Outdoor Pursuits

University Well-Being and Recreation (UWAR) invites the Bobcat community to join Outdoor Pursuits for an upcoming belay clinics and bouldering trip. There will be one final bouldering day trip occurring on Saturday, Nov. 13, and there are four more belay clinics scheduled for the rest of the semester.

If climbing excites you and you are interested in learning another skill, join UWAR at the climbing wall for one of the belay clinics. Staff will teach the basic skills necessary for all climbers to belay safely with common belay devices. Those who complete the clinic will be belay certified, which allows them to belay other climbers at the wall and gives a foundation to help participants grow as a climber.

The remaining belay clinics will be held Sundays, on Nov. 7, 14, 21 and Dec. 5.

On the bouldering day trip, Outdoor Pursuits staff will teach how to boulder, show off fun and challenging climbs and provide education on how to be safe while climbing and spotting. The day trip fee of $15 includes bouldering gear (crash pads and climbing shoes), instructors, transportation to and from the sites and food. The trip will leave Ping Center at 11 a.m. and return at 4 p.m.

Registration for all events can be found online at , or those interested can register in person at the Member Services desk in Ping Center from 9 a.m. to close.
