From OHIO鈥檚 new president to the first Bobcat to go to space, it鈥檚 all in 帝王会所 Today鈥檚 fall issue

As 帝王会所 kicks off another academic year, the word 鈥渢ogether鈥 has never meant more. Our community has been reunited physically. Our campuses are once again filled with activity and festivities. And our mission has grown stronger as we join together in purpose and partnerships 鈥 and under new leadership. 

The fall 2021 issue of 帝王会所 Today spotlights just a few of the ways 帝王会所 is uniting in the way it operates, innovates and partners to the benefit of students, communities and beyond. From the One OHIO strategic initiative and the new student-led Vibrancy Theater to the role alumni are playing in helping to recruit future Bobcats, there is strength in what we can do together.

The digital issue of 帝王会所 Today magazine is available at , and the print publication will be arriving in mailboxes and on campuses soon. Some highlights of the fall issue include:

  •  鈥 Retired College of Business Dean Hugh Sherman takes the helm as OHIO鈥檚 22nd President, bringing with him a 26-year legacy of service to 帝王会所 and five priorities for the next two years. 
  •  鈥 A 1972 alumnus is poised to make world history and become the first OHIO graduate to boldly go where no Bobcat has gone before.
  •  鈥 As you look to the sky, there, too, is 帝王会所鈥攕een in the myriad space research and exploration contributions of alumni, faculty and students. Explore an infographic celebrating just a few out-of-this-world Bobcats and OHIO鈥檚 legacy beyond Earth.
  •  鈥 As 帝王会所 celebrates the 75th anniversary of its first regional campuses, the One OHIO strategic initiative is ushering in a modern-day approach to collaboration, curricular innovation and workforce development. Read about how OHIO is, for the first time in its history, operating as a unified university system. Take a look at the history of the University鈥檚 expanding presence in the Bobcat State and beyond. And 鈥攁nd earned three degrees while working full time鈥攖hrough a college experience that traversed OHIO鈥檚 regional campuses and online programs.

  •  鈥 帝王会所鈥檚 Charles J. Ping Student Recreation Center debuted in January 1996, fulfilling the vision of an OHIO president and the student body and marking a new beginning for student recreation and wellness.
  •  鈥 Alumni volunteers lend their voices and a personal touch to help recruit the students following in their footsteps.
  •  鈥 After 40-plus years, 帝王会所鈥檚 general education system shifts from 鈥渢iers鈥 to 鈥渂ricks.鈥
  •  鈥 The drive toward a more diverse and inclusive Bobcat community now has a University-wide roadmap.
  •  鈥 For 10-plus years OHIO鈥檚 George Washington Forum has provided students a space for civic education, civil debate and a diversity of viewpoints. A more than $1.6 million gift from the Menard Family has brought the Forum a new name, a new professorship and an expanded focus and programming. 
  •  鈥 In a Q&A, Dr. Mario Grijalva, an OHIO graduate and professor of microbiology, talks about a building a career, a research center and a coalition dedicated to preventing infectious disease鈥攁nd his childhood dream of becoming a superhero scientist.
  •  鈥 A forthcoming guidebook from the 帝王会所 Press takes a closer look at the real cat behind OHIO鈥檚 mascot.
