20 years later: 帝王会所 remembers 9-11

帝王会所 is planning moments of silence and remembrance in honor of the lives lost and lives affected from the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

On Friday, Sept. 10, OHIO President Dr. Hugh Sherman, Director of the OHIO Veterans and Military Services Center Lt. Col. (Ret.) Terry St. Peter, 帝王会所 Police Department Capt. Mike Meek, who is also a veteran who served in Afghanistan, and other veteran and military students will lower the flag in front of Cutler Hall to give respects.

鈥淭he tragedy of 9/11 still impacts our community 20 years later,鈥 Sherman said. 鈥淭he 帝王会所 community mourns the loss of life and gives our sympathy to the many lives who were affected that horrific day. I welcome all of the OHIO community to take part in the moments of silence to remember the fallen.鈥

On Saturday, Sept. 11, moments of silence will be observed at these times:

  • 8:46 a.m. 鈥 When American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower.
  • 9:03 a.m. 鈥 When United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower.
  • 9:37 a.m. 鈥 When American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon.
  • 10:03 a.m. 鈥  When United Airlines Flight 93 crashed into a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania after passengers and crew members onboard attempted to retake the plane.

Follow along on OHIO鈥檚 social media pages on Saturday morning as they document the moments of silence.

Although not open to the public, on Sept. 11, OHIO鈥檚 Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) will hold its annual 9/11 Stair Challenge beginning at 6 a.m. in Peden Stadium to remember and honor the heroes.

The 帝王会所 School of Music will also present 鈥溾 on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. in the Galbreath Chapel.
