Participants needed for January 27 weight bias in medicine study

January 15, 2021

CHSP students, faculty and staff are invited to a premiere workshop, on Wednesday, January 27 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Zoom, examining the healthcare stories of women of size.*

As a participant of this workshop, you will be placed into groups intermixed with students and practitioners of various healthcare professions. In these groups, individually and collectively, you will engage in reflective practice and dialogue about the stories you witness.

How to register

Your presence at this workshop will be invaluable, as you will be contributing to a culture of understanding and improved patient care. Please fill out this . One week before the event, you will be sent a required pre-survey that we asked to be filled out immediately, or before the event at the latest. To be clear, there is no intention to stigmatize or criticize one another but to understand where there may be areas of great care and areas of needed growth in caring for this specific community. Your responses will be completely anonymous.

Following the workshop, a second survey will be sent to you. You will be given a coded identifier in the first survey, which will secure your identity, but link both of your responses.

Finally, as a participant of this workshop and as a token of appreciation for joining our study, you will be entered into a raffle to receive 1 of 50 $15 Amazon gift cards.

We look forward to working with you in a commitment to administer excellent healthcare to all patients.

With gratitude,
Alicia Rodgers, OMS-IV
Sami Nandyal, OMS-IV

*‘People of size’ is a term to describe the identities of those who may fit the criteria for overweight or obese. This term is not used or excepted universally, but we have chosen to use this term along with ‘fat’ and ‘large-bodied’ as suggested by the Fat Activist community.
