For years, Dr. Robert Stewart, director of OHIO鈥檚 E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, never had the time to produce the podcast #ScrippsTalks, but amid the current pandemic, he鈥檚 dedicating time to hear from the OHIO journalism community on the various ways COVID-19 is impacting their lives.

鈥淚 wanted to look at what our alumni, faculty and students are doing to cover and adapt to our current reality,鈥 Stewart said. 鈥淏y producing these conversations as podcasts, we will have recorded history for students and faculty to listen to and learn from going forward.鈥

Stewart, who鈥檚 hosting the podcast from the comfort of his home using simple recording devices, has interviewed several students, faculty and alumni all over the world to see how COVID-19 is impacting their lives. Some of the past episodes include an interview with an alumna based in Paris and what it鈥檚 like being abroad in this time, as well as interviews with current student reporters covering the coronavirus remotely and the change to online classes.

The podcast鈥檚 first episode also features Dr. Eddith Dashiell, the recently named new director of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism who will take over when Stewart retires at the end of the semester, talking about preparing for the semester online.

Stewart has produced 14 episodes for the podcast, with many more to come in the following weeks.

鈥淚鈥檓 lining up several more students, faculty and alumni to interview how they鈥檙e managing in this time of crisis,鈥 Stewart added. 鈥淭hese journalists featured are continuing to stay active during this time and are exemplary role models for how to remain productive in a time of uncertainty.鈥
