Patton College faculty member Danny Twilley gives EdTalk on The Role that Outdoor Recreation can Play in Community Development

Dr. Danny Twilley has spent the last 14 years as a faculty member in The Patton College of Education鈥檚 Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies program where he serves as an Assistant Professor and Director of the Ecotourism Certificate. Twilley has worked in the non-profit sector, a corporate trainer, and outdoor leader. Recently he has become interested in how recreation and tourism can serve as a catalyst for community development by connecting communities, providing opportunities for sustainable economic development, and enhance the health and wellness of the residents. His research interests include the psychological outcomes of leisure engagement, recreation鈥檚 role is community development, and the socio-economic impact of ecotourism. Additionally, he leads education abroad trips to the Balkans and Costa Rica focusing on ecotourism鈥檚 role in development.
