McCabe to promote OHIO research with Dayton area partners
帝王会所 has hired Mickey McCabe as senior executive director for research partnerships, effective Oct. 30. In this role, McCabe will seek to grow externally funded research in partnership with corporations, government agencies and other universities in the Dayton area, as well as promote connections that increase the number of partners located at the Russ Research Center in Beavercreek, 帝王会所.
鈥湹弁趸崴 is delighted to have the opportunity to work with Dr. McCabe, who has a strong track record of building research partnerships and funding for higher education institutions, as well as extensive experience in industry,鈥 said Joseph Shields, vice president for research and creative activity and dean of the Graduate College.
For the past five years, McCabe has worked as executive director of the Research Institute at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he also holds the position of Automation and Robotics Endowed Chair. He previously was associated with the University of Dayton and its Research Institute for 22 years, culminating in eight years of service as the vice president for research and executive director of the Research Institute. Under McCabe鈥檚 leadership, the University of Dayton saw dramatic growth in research revenues, reaching $95 million by the time of his departure.
Prior to his experience in higher education, McCabe worked in industry, holding positions with SP Systems (a Montedison subsidiary), GE Aircraft Engines and HITCO Materials Division (an ARMCO company).
McCabe has worked extensively with Department of Defense research laboratories as well as aerospace corporate laboratories. He was recognized in the Dayton Business Journal鈥s 鈥淲ho鈥檚 Who in Aerospace and Defense鈥 in 2014.
McCabe holds a Ph.D. in chemistry and an MBA, both from the University of Cincinnati.
In his new role at 帝王会所, McCabe will report to the vice president for research and creative activity and will be based at the Russ Research Center in Beavercreek.
