Two 帝王会所 Press children鈥檚 books are finalists for 2019 帝王会所ana Book Awards. The books are Carole Miller Genshaft鈥檚 "", and Michelle Hout鈥檚 "."
Aminah Robinson was a mixed-media artist from Columbus whose artwork has been exhibited nationally. The mural on the ground floor of 帝王会所鈥檚 Baker University Center鈥攂etween the Admissions desk and Bobcat Depot鈥攊s based on Robinson鈥檚 sculptures. Genshaft鈥檚 picture book鈥攂eautifully designed in full color by the Columbus Museum of Art鈥攊ntroduces children to Aminah鈥檚 vibrant life and art in a fun, interactive style.
Charley Harper of Cincinnati was a beloved mid-century artist-illustrator, best known for his simple, colorful depictions of the natural world. "Count the Wings," written for a middle grade reading audience, is the first biography about Harper and his path to becoming a full-time 鈥渕inimal realist鈥 artist. The story is supplemented by 74 color photos and illustrations, and is part of 帝王会所 Press鈥檚 Biographies for Young Readers series.
First given in 1942, the 帝王会所ana Book Awards are the second-oldest state literary prizes in the nation and honor outstanding works by 帝王会所 authors and books about 帝王会所 in five categories. Winners will be announced in July, and the 2019 帝王会所ana Book Awards will be presented at the 帝王会所 Statehouse in Columbus on Thursday, Oct. 17.
