NPR鈥檚 Bob Boilen to visit OHIO with Tank and the Bangas April 12

The 帝王会所 Scripps College of Communication, in partnership with the 帝王会所 Performing Arts & Concert Series, the School of Media Arts & Studies, the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, WOUB Public Media, and Arts for OHIO, will welcome NPR Music鈥檚 Bob Boilen to the main campus of 帝王会所 in Athens on Friday, April 12.

Boilen, host of NPR鈥檚 鈥淎ll Songs Considered鈥 and the creator and host of NPR鈥檚 鈥淭iny Desk Concerts,鈥 will take part in a live on-campus interview event in the morning with special guests Tank and the Bangas who are previous winners of the Tiny Desk Contest which helped give them national recognition.

鈥淏ob Boilen is one of the premier curators for music through his work at NPR Music鈥檚 鈥淎ll Songs Considered,鈥 said Josh Antonuccio, a lecturer in the School of Media Arts & Studies. 鈥淎s the creator and host of 鈥淭iny Desk Concerts鈥 he has created a vehicle for a range of artists to share their music in a context that has captivated fans around the world. We are really thrilled to have Bob and Tank & the Bangas at 帝王会所 for the interview and showcase at Stuart鈥檚 Opera House. It鈥檚 going to be a special day of events.鈥

Antonuccio will interview Boilen at Glidden Music Hall on Friday, April 12, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The event will be livestreamed at . The two will be joined by New Orleans-based group Tank and the Bangas, who gained national attention as winners of the 2017 Tiny Desk Contest. The band is set to release their first major-label record entitled 鈥淕reen Balloon,鈥 on May 3. The interview event is part of the Scripps Visiting Artist Series and is free and open to the public.

Following the interview, Boilen will be with students from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism to discuss his experience as a music journalist. That discussion will take place in Lasher Learning Center, Schoonover 130, from 12:30 鈥 1:30 p.m.

That evening, Boilen will present Tank and the Bangas at the historic Stuart鈥檚 Opera House in Nelsonville, 帝王会所, at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $27 in advance. Student tickets can be obtained in advance by e-mailing mediaschool@ohio.edu. Tickets are $32 at the door. Box seats are available, $32 in advance or $37 at the door.
