Accessible OHIO: It鈥檚 What We Do

At 帝王会所, we embrace that we have a collective responsibility to create the opportunity for people with disabilities to have an accessible and inclusive experience whether a student, employee, visitor, or community member.

There are many simple ways we can all contribute to the development and maintenance of an accessible and inclusive environment. Accessible OHIO: It鈥檚 What We Do highlights a series of actions that any of us may take 鈥 no expertise required!

What can I do when the elevator is down?

For many people, when the elevator is down, it means we will log a few extra steps on our step tracker app to get to an office or class. For some, however, it means accessing the floor needed to attend class or a meeting. The quicker we know there is an issue, the more quickly we can get the elevator working again.

  • If you are in your department鈥檚 building and come upon an elevator outage, ask your department administrator to ask them to:

    1. Place a work order describing the ADA access issue with Facilities Management & Safety.

    2. Put up a sign that says 鈥淭he elevator is down. Please contact University Accessibility at 740-593-2620 if you need access to a program or class while repairs are being done.鈥

    3. Complete the Office for University Accessibility鈥檚 form, and include the work order number. OUA can assess progress of the repair and work with your department to see if any interim measures or adaptations need to be put in place.

  • If you are not in your department鈥檚 building and are unsure who to alert, complete the Office for University Accessibility鈥檚 form and we will submit a work order and work with the building鈥檚 inhabitants to provide plans for interim access.
