Retirement reception for Melanie Glassmire to be held Dec. 7

A retirement reception for Melanie Glassmire will be held from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, in the 1804 Lounge in Baker University Center. The event is open to the public.
Glassmire started her career at 帝王会所 in 1989 in the Development Office. She worked on the 鈥淭hird Century Campaign,鈥 which was started by President Emeritus Charles J. Ping. The goal of the campaign was to grow OHIO鈥檚 endowment by $100 million and was realized when the campaign ended in 1993 with $132 million. By the end of the campaign, 帝王会所鈥檚 endowment had grown from $54.6 million to more than $90 million.
In 1994, Glassmire moved to Culinary Services and worked there for 15 years. She had many positions, including office assistant, office manager, food buyer, and procurement and supply manager. Following her time at Culinary Services, Glassmire transferred to Procurement Services, which does all of the buying of goods and services for the University.
Since 2015, Glassmire has been working at the Career and Leadership Development Center (CLDC) as the business and technology manager. In this role, she has been in charge of the front desk and scheduling activities, helping with IT, budgets and HR needs for the office; managing a team of eight students; and assisting Imants Jaunarajs, assistant dean of students for the CLDC.
After retirement, Glassmire plans to travel and spend time with her family. She also plans to continue volunteering for OHIO Men鈥檚 Hockey and working the scorer table for OHIO Women鈥檚 Basketball.
When asked what she will miss the most after retirement, Glassmire said, 鈥淭he people and the relationships. Of course I will still maintain them, but it won鈥檛 be the same as being able to see these people on a regular basis. And I鈥檝e met some pretty amazing people along the way.鈥
